ZFSC 2025

Just when we think things couldn’t get any better, you prove us wrong. This year, 704 competitors from seven European countries signed up for the race. We were joined by firefighters from Austria, Slovenia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and even Germany—though, as always, the largest number of participants came from Croatia.

The charity event known as the “Zagreb Firefighter Stair Challenge” took place between October and December, marking its 13th edition. For the seventh consecutive year, we raised funds for the “Kolibrići” Association—an organization supporting parents of critically ill children who require round-the-clock care to survive. The association has just over 100 members; while we couldn’t help everyone, we were able to assist many. The funds raised will be used to purchase essential equipment for the children, including: an “Octopus” safe transport aid for children with disabilities, two electric wheelchairs and spare parts for them, two bathing aids, a Zepter Bioptron medical device, a special car seat, multidisciplinary therapy sessions, eight medical aspirators, spare batteries for a portable oxygen concentrator, and necessary training on the use of medical equipment as well as family counseling services.

As part of the charity campaign, we organized a charity pub quiz at the Fakin Craft Bar in Zagreb. We also continued our charity auction on Facebook, which saw participation from various companies, individuals, and athletes this year. Through donations, a pub quiz, auctions, and entry fees, we raised a total of €33,570.83—surpassing the bigest amount from any previous year.

The highlight of the entire charity campaign was the Firefighter Stair Challenge, held at the building at Strojarska 20 in Zagreb; this year, 704 competitors signed up, including 100 children and youths involved in firefighting. On race day—December 6, 2025—the largest gathering of Croatian firefighters in one place could be witnessed. Alongside local firefighters, competitors also came from Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

In doing so, we once again demonstrated the solidarity of the firefighting community, helped those in need, tested our physical fitness, and had a great time in the process.
