ZFSC 2020
This was a challenging year for everyone in the world, including us and our charity firefighting race. But, regardless of all the bad things in 2020, with this charity event, we showed that difficult times have positive moments.
Due to the epidemic, the charity race – Zagreb Firefighter Stair Challenge, was held virtually on December 5th and 6th, 2020, and was run by firefighters all over the world. All those who competed sent us their photos and videos that got a special place on our website and social media sites. Of course, most of the competitors were from Croatia, but we also had runners from France, Germany, Hungary, Norway, Slovenia, and the USA. In total we had 138 kids, professional and volunteer firefighters run the race, which is unfortunately less than half in the previous years. Each competitor received a participant’s medal by mail and a sports buff with the logo of our race and sponsors.
In order to raise as much money as possible for our Hummingbird kids, we opened a Facebook group called the Auctions for the Hummingbird Association “Zagreb Firefighter Stair Challenge”, where people from all over Croatia and beyond sold and bidded on items like paintings, T-shirts, mugs, backpacks, homemade products such as brandy, kulen, jam, but also precious necklaces, accommodation for holidays, etc. The group was followed by 2000 people and all the money from the auctions went to the Hummingbirds.
Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for participating in the charity event, both in the race and auction group with which we collected a new record of 57 498.86 kuna for the Hummingbird Association.

“The funds donated to the Association after the 2020 race were spent on the purchase of a coughassist expectorant and an orthopedic stand.
Both health devices were handed over to our members and their parents were trained on the usage of the new equipment.
We are extremely grateful to the race organizers for supporting our work this way and providing help to our members that, due to high costs of the devices, would not be able to purchase them on their own. ”
